Blue Zone Habit Score Calculator
Score your daily life against the nine longevity habits shared by the world’s longest-lived communities.
How it works
Score = sum of 9 habit ratings (1 = yes, 0.5 = partial, 0 = no) · Percent = score ÷ 9 × 100
Researcher Dan Buettner distilled the lifestyle of the world’s longest-lived populations — the "Blue Zones" — into nine shared habits called the Power 9, spanning movement, diet, stress, purpose and social connection. No single habit explains their longevity; it is the combination, woven into daily life, that stands out. This score is a self-reflection prompt, not a medical prediction — it simply shows which of the nine you already live and where there is room to lean in.
Worked example
Rating yourself 1 on five habits, 0.5 on three and 0 on one gives 5 + 1.5 + 0 = 6.5 of 9, or about 72% — an "On track" result with a couple of habits left to build.
Frequently asked questions
What are the Power 9 habits?
Move naturally, have a sense of purpose, downshift from stress, follow the 80% rule at meals, eat a plant-slant diet, keep alcohol moderate and social, belong to a community, put loved ones first, and surround yourself with a healthy social circle.
Does a high score guarantee a long life?
No. Longevity depends on genetics, environment, healthcare and luck as well as habits. The Power 9 are associations observed in long-lived communities, not a personal guarantee.
Which habit matters most?
Studies of these communities point to strong social connection and daily natural movement as especially powerful, but the habits reinforce each other — the value is in the whole pattern.
