Crypto Profit Calculator
Calculate the profit, loss and percent return on a cryptocurrency trade after buy and sell trading fees.
How it works
Units = (invested − buy fee) ÷ buy price · Proceeds = units × sell price − sell fee · Profit = proceeds − invested · Return = profit ÷ invested
The trade math is the same as for a stock: the fee on the way in leaves you fewer units, and the fee on the way out trims your proceeds. The number of units is the amount invested (after the buy fee) divided by the buy price, and profit is what you walk away with minus everything you put in. The percent return divides that profit by your original stake. Crypto simply tends to have far larger price moves and, on some venues, higher fees than stock trades.
Worked example
Investing $5,000 at a $20,000 buy price with a 0.5% fee means a $25 buy fee, leaving about 0.24875 units. Selling at $30,000 brings roughly $7,463 gross; after a $37 sell fee that is about $7,425. Net profit is around $2,425, a return near 48.5% on the $5,000 invested.
Frequently asked questions
Are crypto profits taxable?
In the US, selling or swapping crypto is generally a taxable event, with short-term or long-term capital-gains treatment depending on how long you held. Even trading one coin for another can trigger tax. Keep records and check current rules.
Does this include network or gas fees?
No — only the percentage trading fee. On-chain transfers, network gas and spread costs can add up, especially on smaller trades, so your real result may be a little lower.
Can this tell me if a coin is a good buy?
No. It only does arithmetic on prices you supply. Cryptocurrency is highly speculative and can lose most or all of its value quickly — nothing here is a prediction or a recommendation.
