Envelope Budget Calculator
Split your monthly take-home pay into spending envelopes and see how much is left to save.
How it works
Left to save = income − (sum of every envelope)
The envelope method gives every dollar a job. You assign each spending category an amount up front; whatever is left is your savings. A negative result means the plan spends more than you earn.
Worked example
On $4,000 take-home with $3,250 across envelopes, $750 is left — an 18.75% savings rate.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good savings rate?
Many aim for 20% of take-home pay, but any positive, consistent number is progress. Raise it over time as income grows.
Should I include debt payments?
Yes — put minimum debt payments in their own envelope. Extra payoff can come from the leftover.
