How it works
Daily cost = heater kW × heating hours × price per kWh
A hot tub’s cost is dominated by heating. Power in kilowatts times daily run hours times your electricity rate gives the daily cost; a good cover cuts run hours and the bill.
Worked example
A 4 kW heater running 4 h/day at $0.15 costs about $72 a month.
Frequently asked questions
How do I cut the cost?
A well-fitted insulated cover is the biggest saver, followed by a lower set temperature and off-peak heating.
Why does mine run more in winter?
Colder air means more heat loss, so the heater cycles more often to hold temperature.
