Streaming Cost Per Hour Calculator
What each hour of Netflix, Disney+ or any subscription really costs you — cost per hour and per episode from your monthly fee and viewing, with a cinema-ticket comparison.
How it works
cost per hour = monthly fee ÷ (weekly hours × 52 ÷ 12); cost per episode = cost per hour × minutes ÷ 60
Subscriptions feel cheap because the fee is small and invisible; dividing it by the hours you actually watch shows the real price of entertainment. Heavy viewers get television for pennies an hour, while a service you open twice a month can cost more per hour than a cinema ticket. Run the numbers for each service you hold — the ones near the bottom of your viewing are the candidates to pause.
Worked example
$15.49 a month for 6 hours a week (26 hours a month): $0.60 an hour, $0.45 per 45-minute episode, $186 a year.
