Pregnancy Caffeine Limit Calculator
Add up today’s coffee, tea, cola and chocolate against the 200 mg pregnancy caffeine limit and see how much room is left.
How it works
Total mg = Σ servings × typical caffeine per serving; compare with 200 mg/day
Caffeine crosses the placenta and the baby cannot break it down, and pregnancy slows your own clearance — a coffee at 30 weeks stays in your system roughly three times longer. Most guidelines (NHS, ACOG, WHO) set 200 mg a day as the ceiling, linked to lower risks of low birth weight and miscarriage. Serving strengths vary a lot, so café drinks can be double the figures here.
Worked example
One brewed coffee (95) + one black tea (47) + one square of dark chocolate (20) = 162 mg, leaving room for little else.
Frequently asked questions

Both are stronger: matcha about 70 mg per serving, cold brew often 150–200 mg per large cup.
