RV Loan Payment Calculator
Work out the monthly payment, total interest and payoff cost of a motorhome or travel-trailer loan.
How it works
Amount financed = price − down · Payment = P·r ÷ (1 − (1+r)^−n), r = APR ÷ 12, n = months · Total interest = payment × n − amount financed
RV loans behave like long-term auto loans: a fixed rate, level monthly payments, and terms that can reach 20 years on larger motorhomes. The long term makes a six-figure rig feel affordable month to month, but RVs depreciate steeply, so a small down payment on a long term can leave you owing more than the RV is worth for years. Higher-priced Class A motorhomes may qualify for lower rates than towable trailers.
Worked example
Finance a $85,000 motorhome with $8,500 down and you borrow $76,500. At 7.75% over 15 years (180 payments), the payment is about $719.94 a month; you repay roughly $129,589 in total, of which about $53,089 is interest.
Frequently asked questions
How long can an RV loan be?
Terms of 10 to 15 years are common, and large motorhomes can be financed for up to 20 years. Longer terms lower the monthly payment but sharply increase total interest.
Are RV loan rates higher than car loans?
Often, yes. RVs are seen as recreational rather than essential, and towable trailers in particular can carry higher rates than a comparable auto loan. A strong credit score and a larger down payment help.
Can I deduct RV loan interest?
In some cases an RV with sleeping, cooking and toilet facilities can qualify as a second home for mortgage-interest deduction purposes. Rules change and depend on your situation, so confirm with a tax professional.
