Stamp Album Pages Calculator
Work out how many album pages and binders a stamp collection needs from the number of stamps and stamps per page.
How it works
Pages = ceil(stamps ÷ per-page × growth) · Binders = ceil(pages ÷ pages-per-binder)
Sizing an album is a rounding problem: partial pages still cost a whole sheet, and partial binders still need a whole binder, so you always round up. Stamps per page varies widely — large commemoratives or mounted blocks might be four to a page, while small definitives fit twenty or more. Adding a headroom factor is worth it because collections grow, and reshuffling a full album to insert a page is tedious.
Worked example
1,200 stamps at 20 per page is 60 pages exactly. Adding 20% headroom gives 72 pages, and at 60 pages per binder that is two binders with room to spare.
Frequently asked questions
How many stamps fit on a page?
It depends on stamp size and whether you use hinges or mounts. As a rough guide, small definitives fit 20–30 to a page, standard commemoratives 9–16, and large souvenir sheets one or two.
Why add headroom?
Collections grow and stamps are often arranged by country or theme, so you want blank pages ready in the right section. Filling an album to the last slot means re-sorting everything the next time you add material.
Stockbook or hingeless album?
Stockbooks pack more stamps per page and suit bulk storage; hingeless printed albums show fewer per page but present a collection far better. Choose your stamps-per-page figure to match the format you actually use.
