Baby Kick Count Calculator
Time your baby’s movements — minutes to reach 10 kicks, movements per hour, and whether the count meets the usual “10 in 2 hours” guideline.
How it works
Movements per hour = kicks ÷ minutes × 60 · time to 10 = 10 ÷ kicks × minutes
From about 28 weeks most babies produce 10 distinct movements within two hours when you lie on your side after a meal. The important thing is your baby’s own pattern — a clear slowdown compared with usual matters more than any fixed number. Counting is a prompt to seek care the same day, never a reason to wait until tomorrow.
Worked example
10 kicks in 35 minutes = 17 per hour — comfortably within the guideline.
Frequently asked questions
Do hiccups count?
No — count kicks, rolls, jabs and flutters, not rhythmic hiccups.
Should movements slow down near the end?
No. Babies have less room but should move just as often. Reduced movement is always worth reporting.
