How it works
Size (MB) = bitrate (kbps) × 1000 × seconds ÷ 8 ÷ 1,000,000
Bitrate is how many bits encode each second. Multiplying by the length gives total bits; dividing by 8 converts to bytes. Higher bitrate means better quality and larger files.
Worked example
A 4-minute song at 320 kbps is about 9.6 MB.
Frequently asked questions
What bitrate is "CD quality" audio?
Uncompressed CD audio is 1,411 kbps; 320 kbps MP3/AAC is near-transparent for most listeners.
Does this work for video?
Yes — use the total video bitrate (video + audio) for the clip length.
