How it works

NRR = (runs scored ÷ overs faced) − (runs conceded ÷ overs bowled); 0.3 overs = 0.5 overs in decimal

Net run rate is the tiebreaker in league tables. Overs are converted to decimals by balls (47.3 overs = 47.5), and when a side is bowled out its full quota of overs is counted, not the overs it actually lasted. For a tournament the totals are aggregated across all matches, not averaged match by match, so one heavy defeat can drag a team down.

Worked example

1,242 runs in 236.3 overs (5.253) against 1,105 in 244 overs (4.529): NRR = +0.724.

Frequently asked questions

What if a team was all out?

Enter the full allotted overs (e.g. 50 or 20) for that innings, whatever the actual overs faced.

How do DLS matches count?

Use the revised target and overs the ICC playing conditions specify — usually the par score and reduced overs.
