How it works
days = next occurrence of your birth month and day − the count-from date (today by default) · age you will turn = year of that birthday − birth year
Only the month and day decide the countdown. The calculator looks for that month and day in the year of the count-from date (today unless you pick another date); if it has already passed, it moves to next year, and if it is the same day the countdown reads zero. The count is in exact calendar days, also shown as weeks and days, months and days, and hours. With your real birth year it also shows the age you will turn, your current age and the weekday you were born on. February 29 birthdays fall back to February 28 — or March 1, if you prefer — in common years. A table lists your next birthdays with their weekdays and ages, so you can see which year your birthday lands on a Saturday.
Worked example
Born June 15, 1995 and counting from October 18, 2026: June 15, 2026 has already passed, so the next birthday is Tuesday, June 15, 2027 — 240 days away, or 34 weeks and 2 days (7 months and 28 days, 5,760 hours). You will turn 32; you are 31 years, 4 months and 3 days old, 125 days into your birthday year. The upcoming list shows June 15 falling on a Thursday in 2028 (because of February 29, 2028) and a Saturday in 2030.
Frequently asked questions
What if my birthday is February 29?
In common years the countdown targets February 28 by default, the usual celebration date; you can switch to March 1 under More options. In a leap year it targets the real February 29.
Why is the weekday different from last year?
A common year is 52 weeks and 1 day, so your birthday moves one weekday later each year — and two when a February 29 sits in between. The upcoming-birthdays table shows the weekday for each of the next years.
Does it count today as day zero?
Yes. On the birthday itself it shows zero days; the day before shows 1. The target date itself is never added to the count.
Can I count from a date other than today?
Yes. Open More options and change “Count from” — for example to plan a party from the date invitations go out.
Do I have to enter my real birth year?
No. Any year works for the countdown. If the year is not your birth year, turn off “The year is my birth year” so no age is shown.
