How it works
days = next occurrence of the birth month and day − today
Only the month and day of the date you enter matter — the year is ignored. The calculator finds the next time that month and day come around: if it has already passed this year, it looks to next year; if it is today, the countdown reads zero. The count is in exact calendar days, so a birthday exactly one week out reads 7.
Worked example
A June 15 birthday checked on September 11, 2026: June 15, 2026 has already passed, so the next one is Tuesday, June 15, 2027 — 277 days away, or 39 weeks, 4 days.
Frequently asked questions
What if my birthday is February 29?
In common years the calculator counts to February 28, the usual celebration date. In an actual leap year the countdown targets the real February 29.
Why is the weekday different from last year?
A common year is 52 weeks and 1 day, so your birthday advances one weekday each year — and jumps two when a February 29 sits in between.
Does it count today as day zero?
Yes. On the birthday itself it shows zero days; the day before shows 1. The target date itself is never added to the count.
