Flashcards Per Day Calculator
Work out how many new flashcards to add each day to finish a deck by your deadline, plus the daily review load.
How it works
New per day = ⌈total cards ÷ days⌉ · Reviews per day = total cards × reviews per card ÷ days · Daily load = new + reviews
Finishing a deck on time is not just about introducing new cards — every new card comes back for several reviews, and those reviews pile onto later days. Dividing the deck by your days gives the new-cards target, but the real daily workload is that plus the review backlog, which is why decks feel heaviest in the middle rather than at the start. Seeing the peak load up front helps you pick a sustainable pace instead of front-loading and burning out.
Worked example
A 500-card deck due in 30 days needs ⌈500 ÷ 30⌉ = 17 new cards a day. At 4 reviews per card that is 2,000 reviews over 30 days, about 67 a day — so plan for roughly 84 cards daily at the peak.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my daily card count higher than just new cards?
Each new card generates several reviews on later days. So while you might add 17 new cards, you are also reviewing dozens of earlier ones, which is the bulk of the daily workload.
Should I add the same number of new cards every day?
A steady rate keeps the review load predictable. If you add cards in bursts, the reviews from each burst clump together and create spikes, so a constant daily count is usually easier to sustain.
