How it works

Growth rate = (followers now − followers at start) ÷ followers at start × 100 · Daily compound rate = (now ÷ start)^(1 ÷ days) − 1 · Days to goal (linear) = (goal − now) ÷ new followers per day · Days to goal (compound) = ln(goal ÷ now) ÷ ln(1 + daily rate)

Follower growth rate shows how quickly an account’s audience grows over a period and lets you compare accounts of different sizes fairly — gaining 500 followers is huge for a new profile and tiny for a large one. The calculator gives two forecasts for reaching a goal: one assumes you keep adding the same number of followers per day, the other that you keep growing by the same percentage. Real growth usually lands between the two, because percentage growth tends to slow as an account gets larger.

Worked example

An account grows from 2,000 to 2,600 followers in 30 days. Growth rate = 600 ÷ 2,000 = 30.00%, or 20.0 new followers a day. Adding 20 a day it would reach 10,000 followers in 370 days; growing 0.878% a day it would take 155 days.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate follower growth rate?

Subtract the starting follower count from the current count, divide by the starting count and multiply by 100. Going from 2,000 to 2,600 followers is a 30% growth rate for that period.

What is a good monthly follower growth rate?

Large brand accounts often grow around 1–2% a month, while small and new accounts can grow 10% or more. Compare yourself with similar-sized accounts in your niche and look at the trend rather than one month.

Why does my percentage growth slow down as I get bigger?

Each new follower is a smaller share of a larger base, and the pool of interested people in a niche is limited. Keeping the same percentage growth requires gaining more followers every month.

Should I track followers or engagement?

Both. Follower growth measures reach, but engagement rate shows whether those followers care about your content. Brands and sponsors usually weigh engagement more heavily.
