Forex Profit Calculator
Calculate the profit or loss of a forex trade from the entry and exit price, position size and direction — in pips, in the quote currency and in your account currency — plus the pip value.
How it works
Long: profit = (exit − entry) × units · short: profit = (entry − exit) × units · pips = price move ÷ pip size · profit in account currency = profit in quote currency × quote-to-account rate · pip value = pip size × units × quote-to-account rate
Forex profit is earned in the quote (second) currency of the pair: a long EUR/USD trade makes or loses US dollars. Multiply the price move by the position size in base-currency units, then convert to your account currency if it differs from the quote currency. Pips are the standard unit of price movement — 0.0001 for most pairs and 0.01 for yen pairs. Spreads, commissions and overnight swaps are not included, so subtract them for your net result.
Worked example
Buying 100,000 EUR/USD (1 standard lot) at 1.0850 and selling at 1.0920 gains 0.0070, or 70.0 pips. At 10.00 per pip that is 0.007 × 100,000 = 700.00 of profit for a USD account.

Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate profit in forex?
Take the price difference between exit and entry (reversed for a short), multiply by the number of base-currency units and convert from the quote currency into your account currency.
How much is 1 pip worth?
On a standard lot of 100,000 units a pip of 0.0001 is worth 10 units of the quote currency — 10 USD on EUR/USD. A mini lot is worth 1 and a micro lot 0.10.
How do I convert profit to my account currency?
Multiply the quote-currency profit by the rate from the quote currency to your account currency. For a USD/JPY trade in a USD account, divide the yen profit by the exit USD/JPY rate (the rate here would be 1 ÷ USD/JPY).
Does leverage change the profit?
No — profit depends on position size, not leverage. Leverage only changes how much margin you post, which magnifies the return on that margin in both directions.
