Meditation Minutes Goal Calculator
Set a realistic daily meditation target from your weekly goal and see the monthly and yearly minutes it adds up to.
How it works
Per day = weekly goal ÷ practice days · Per session = per day ÷ sessions · Per year = weekly goal × 52
Consistency matters more than long sessions, so it helps to translate a weekly intention into a bite-sized daily target. This spreads your weekly minutes across the days you actually plan to sit, then splits each day into the number of sessions you prefer. Seeing the yearly total — often many hours from just a few minutes a day — is a powerful reminder of how small habits compound.
Worked example
A 70-minute weekly goal over 5 days is 14 minutes per practice day. With one session a day that is a single 14-minute sit. Across a year: 70 × 52 = 3,640 minutes, about 60.7 hours.
Frequently asked questions
How many minutes a day should a beginner meditate?
Many people start with just 5–10 minutes a day and build up. The best target is one you can keep to — a short daily practice beats an ambitious plan you abandon after a week.
Is it better to meditate once or split into short sessions?
Both work. Longer single sits can deepen focus, while several short sessions fit busy days and reinforce the habit. This calculator lets you plan either way.
