How it works

Average = sum of rated days ÷ number of rated days (skipped days excluded)

A weekly average smooths out the natural day-to-day swings in mood and shows the underlying baseline. Skipped days are left out entirely rather than counted as zero, so a few missed entries do not drag the average down. The range between your best and worst day is just as informative as the average — a wide range points to volatility, even when the average looks fine.

Worked example

Ratings of 3, 4, 2, 3, 5, 4, 3 sum to 24 over 7 days, an average of 24 ÷ 7 = 3.43 — "Balanced" — with a range of 2 to 5.

Frequently asked questions

Why exclude skipped days instead of scoring them 0?

A zero would distort the average and imply your mood was at rock bottom, which a missed entry does not mean. Averaging only the days you actually rated gives a truer picture.

What does the range tell me?

It shows how much your mood swung during the week. Two people can share the same average while one had steady days and the other swung from lows to highs — the range surfaces that difference.
