NFT Flip Profit Calculator
Calculate your real profit flipping an NFT after creator royalties, marketplace fees and gas — not just buy price minus sell price.
How it works
Net proceeds = sell × (1 − royalty% − fee%) − gas · Profit = net proceeds − buy price
The headline “sold for 2×” number hides the costs that eat into an NFT flip. Creator royalties and the marketplace’s cut are charged on the sale price, and gas is paid on both the purchase and the sale. Together they can turn a nominal doubling into a much thinner real gain — and a small flip into a loss once fixed gas costs are spread over a low sale price. Always price the round-trip costs before assuming a flip is profitable.
Worked example
Buy at $1,000, sell at $2,000, with a 5% royalty, 2.5% marketplace fee, and $50 total gas. Fees and royalty are 2,000 × 7.5% = $150, so net proceeds are 2,000 − 150 − 50 = $1,800, leaving a $800 profit (80% return) rather than the naive $1,000.
Frequently asked questions
Are royalties always charged?
It depends on the marketplace. Some enforce creator royalties on every sale; others have made them optional. If royalties are waived, set the field to 0% — but many blue-chip collections still expect them.
Why does gas hurt small flips so much?
Gas is a roughly fixed cost per transaction regardless of price. On a $2,000 flip $50 of gas is 2.5%, but on a $200 flip the same $50 is 25% — often enough to erase the profit entirely.
Should I include the buy-side fees?
This tool applies royalty and marketplace fees to the sale and lets you enter total gas for both legs. If you also paid a fee on purchase, fold it into the buy price to capture the full round-trip cost.
