How it works

Year 1 = 21 human years; each further year ≈ 6 human years

Rabbits reach sexual maturity at 4–6 months and are fully grown by a year, so the first year counts for about 21 human years. After that they age steadily, with smaller breeds living longest (10–12 years) and giants shortest (5–7). Senior rabbits from about age 5–6 benefit from softer flooring and twice-yearly vet checks.

Worked example

A 3-year-old rabbit: 21 + 6 + 6 = 33 human years.
