How it works

occurrence k = start + k × interval (days, weeks, months or years) · monthly/yearly by weekday: the same nth (or last) weekday of each month · upcoming dates are those on or after today, up to the end date or occurrence limit

A recurring event is defined by a first occurrence and a repeat rule. The calculator supports every N days, every weekday (Monday to Friday), every N weeks on the same weekday or on several weekdays such as Mon, Wed and Fri, every N months or years on the same day number, and month or year rules by weekday position — the 2nd Tuesday, the last Friday or the last day of the month. It finds the first occurrence on or after today (or any date you pick), lists the next dates with how far away each is and its number in the series, and counts the occurrences in the next 365 days and in each of the next 12 months — handy for spotting the months with three biweekly paydays. A series can end on a date or after a set number of occurrences, and dates that land on a weekend can move to the Friday before, the Monday after or the nearest weekday. Day-number rules clamp to shorter months, so a series on the 31st falls on February 28 and returns to the 31st when the month allows.

Worked example

A weekly event first held Monday, January 5, 2026, viewed on Monday, October 19, 2026, is on occurrence #42 that same day, and then every Monday after — the table lists the next six dates. Change it to every 2 weeks and the next one is Monday, October 26, 2026 (#22), with three occurrences in March and August 2027. A monthly “2nd Tuesday” rule starting January 13, 2026 gives November 10 and December 8, 2026 next.

Frequently asked questions

What happens with a monthly event on the 31st?

With “the same day number”, the day clamps to the last day of shorter months, so a series on the 31st lands on the 30th in April and the 28th or 29th in February, then returns to the 31st when the month allows. Choose “the last day of the month” if you want the month-end every time.

Can I do “every other week” or several days a week?

Yes — choose Weekly and set “repeat every” to 2 for fortnightly. To repeat on several days, type them in “On these weekdays”, such as Mon, Wed, Fri, and combine with every 2 weeks if needed.

How do I set “the second Tuesday of every month”?

Pick Monthly, enter a first occurrence that is a second Tuesday, and set “Repeat on” to the same weekday position. Use “the last of that weekday” for rules like the last Friday of each month, or Yearly for holidays such as the 4th Thursday of November.

Can the series stop?

Yes. Under More options set an end date, or the total number of occurrences counted from the first one. The result then also shows how many occurrences are left.

Does the list include past dates?

No — it only shows occurrences on or after today (or the date you pick under More options), so it always answers “when is the next one?”. Each row shows its number in the series, so you can see how many came before.
