How it works

Extra rounds = max(0, used − included) · Extra hours = extra rounds × hours per round · Chargeable = extra hours × rate

Unlimited revisions are how fixed-fee projects quietly turn unprofitable. Defining a set number of included rounds and a clear rate for anything beyond them keeps changes bounded and gives the client a reason to consolidate feedback. This tool counts the rounds past your included allowance, converts them to hours, and prices them — turning "just one more tweak" into a visible line item rather than free work absorbed into the original fee.

Worked example

A $3,000 project includes 2 revision rounds but the client used 5. The 3 extra rounds at 3 hours each are 9 hours; at $90 an hour that is $810 you can bill, taking the project to $3,810.

Frequently asked questions

How many revision rounds should I include?

Two to three is a common default for design and writing work. Whatever you choose, state it in the contract along with the rate for extra rounds, so additional changes are expected rather than a surprise.

Should I charge per round or per hour?

Either works. Per-hour billing (rounds × hours × rate, as here) is fairest when rounds vary in size; a flat per-round fee is simpler for the client to predict. Pick one and put it in writing.

How do I bring up revision charges gracefully?

Point back to the included rounds in the agreement before the limit is reached, and note that further changes are billable at your stated rate. Framing it as policy set at the start avoids it feeling like a penalty.
