RevPASH Calculator — Restaurant Revenue per Available Seat Hour
Calculate RevPASH (revenue per available seat-hour) for a restaurant, bar or café, plus average check per cover, seat occupancy and seat turnover for any service period.
How it works
Available seat-hours = seats × opening hours · RevPASH = revenue ÷ available seat-hours · Average check = revenue ÷ covers · Seat occupancy = covers × dining time (h) ÷ available seat-hours · Seat turnover = covers ÷ seats · RevPASH = seat occupancy × average check ÷ dining time (h)
RevPASH, introduced by Sheryl Kimes at Cornell's School of Hotel Administration, is the restaurant equivalent of hotel RevPAR. Because a restaurant sells seat time, RevPASH combines how full the dining room is with how much each guest spends and how long they stay. Compare it by day part (lunch, dinner, weekend) to find slow hours worth promoting and busy hours where faster turns, a better table mix or higher prices would earn more.
Worked example
A restaurant with 80 seats open 60 hours a week has 4,800 available seat-hours. Taking $18,000 from 900 covers gives RevPASH of $18,000 ÷ 4,800 = $3.75 and an average check of $20.00. With 75-minute meals, seats were occupied 900 × 1.25 ÷ 4,800 = 23.44% of the time, and each seat turned 11.25 times.

Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate RevPASH?
Divide revenue for a period by the available seat-hours: number of seats × hours open. $18,000 ÷ (80 seats × 60 hours) = $3.75 per seat-hour.
What is a good RevPASH?
There is no universal figure — it depends on price point, concept and location. Track it by hour and day part against your own history; the goal is to raise RevPASH in slow periods and maximise it at peak.
How can I increase RevPASH?
Shorten dining time at peak without rushing guests (faster ordering, payment at table), match table sizes to party sizes, use reservations and off-peak promotions, and lift average check with menu engineering and suggestive selling.
What is the difference between RevPASH and RevPAR?
RevPAR is hotel revenue per available room-night; RevPASH is restaurant revenue per available seat per hour. Both divide revenue by the capacity that was available to sell.
