How it works

number of bets = C(n, k) for one parlay size, or Σ C(n, k) for k = 2…n (full cover) · total stake = bets × stake per bet · payout = stake × Σ over winning parlays of Π decimal odds of their legs · a parlay wins only if all its legs win

A round robin (system bet) places every parlay of a chosen size from a list of selections, so one or two losers no longer sink the whole ticket. With four teams, "by 2s" is six two-team parlays; full cover adds the trebles and the four-fold (11 bets, a Yankee). Payouts depend on which selections win, because each parlay multiplies its own legs' odds, so the table shows the range from the lowest-priced to the highest-priced winners. More bets mean a bigger total stake, and every parlay still carries the bookmaker's compounded margin.

Worked example

A $10 round robin by 2s on four selections at 2.0, 1.8, 2.5 and 3.0 is six doubles, $60.00 in total. If all four win, the doubles pay 10 × (3.6 + 5 + 6 + 4.5 + 5.4 + 7.5) = $320.00, a $260.00 profit. With any two winners only one double wins — between $36.00 and $75.00 — so you need three winners to profit.

Frequently asked questions

How does a round robin bet work?

You choose selections and a parlay size, and the bookmaker places every combination: 3 picks by 2s is 3 parlays, 4 picks by 2s is 6, 5 picks by 3s is 10. Each is a separate bet at the stake you set.

How many bets are in a Yankee or a Heinz?

A Trixie (3 selections) is 4 bets, a Yankee (4) is 11, a Super Yankee or Canadian (5) is 26 and a Heinz (6) is 57 — all the doubles, trebles and bigger accumulators, without singles.

Is a round robin better than a parlay?

It is less all-or-nothing: you can lose a leg and still collect. But it costs more (one stake per combination) and when everything wins it returns less than a single parlay with the same total money.
