Rowing Split Calculator
Convert a rowing distance and time into your average /500m split and power in watts.

Loading calculator…
How it works
Split = time ÷ (distance ÷ 500); watts = 2.80 ÷ (seconds per metre)³
Indoor rowers show pace as time per 500 metres. The watts formula is the Concept2 relationship between pace and power, letting you compare efforts at any distance.
Worked example
2,000 m in 7:30 is a 1:52.5 /500m split, about 203 W.
Frequently asked questions
Why /500m and not per km?
It is the rowing convention — 500 m is a natural racing unit and keeps splits in a readable 1–2 minute range.
Does the watts figure match my monitor?
It uses the standard Concept2 formula, so it should be very close to a PM5 monitor reading.
