How it works
Scaled = amount × (wanted servings ÷ original servings)
Scaling a recipe keeps ratios intact by multiplying every ingredient by the same factor — the ratio of the servings you want to the servings the recipe makes.
Worked example
From 4 to 6 servings the factor is 1.5, so 200 g becomes 300 g.
Frequently asked questions
Do spices scale linearly too?
Roughly. Strong spices, salt and leavening sometimes need slightly less than the straight multiple — taste as you go.
Does cook time scale?
Not directly. Larger batches may need a bigger pan and a little more time, but not the full multiple.
