Shoe sizing has no single global standard — each region scales differently, so conversions are always approximate. This tool anchors on the US size, converting your input to it and then out to the other systems using the common linear relationships between them. EU sizes track a foot-length scale, UK sizes sit about half a size below US for men, and centimetres estimate the actual foot length the shoe is built for. Treat the result as a close starting point: real fit varies by brand, last shape and how a shoe is cut, often by half a size or more.
Worked example
A men's US 9 converts to about EU 42 (9 + 33), UK 8.5 (9 − 0.5) and a foot length of 9 × 0.667 + 21.3 ≈ 27.3 cm. A women's US 8 lands near EU 38.5, UK 6 and about 25.9 cm.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate are these conversions?
They are close cross-references, not exact equivalents. Shoe sizing differs by country and even by brand, so a converted size can be off by half a size. The most reliable method is to measure your foot length in centimetres and match it to the manufacturer’s own size chart.
How do I measure my foot length?
Stand on a sheet of paper, mark the back of your heel and the tip of your longest toe, and measure the distance. Do it in the afternoon (feet swell during the day) and measure both feet — use the larger one. That length in centimetres is the surest cross-brand guide.
Are men's and women's sizes interchangeable?
They run on different scales. A women’s US size is roughly 1.5 sizes larger in number than the equivalent men’s US size, so a women’s 9.5 is about a men’s 8. If you switch between them, convert through the foot-length centimetre figure rather than the numbers directly.
