Soccer Points Per Game & Projection Calculator
Turn a team’s wins, draws and losses into total points, points per game and a full-season projection under the 3-1-0 system.
How it works
Points = 3 × Wins + Draws · PPG = Points ÷ Games played · Projection = PPG × Season length
Under the modern three-points-for-a-win system, points per game is the cleanest way to compare teams who have played a different number of matches. Multiplying the current PPG by the full season length projects the final tally if the team holds its current form. Roughly 2.0 PPG is title-winning pace in most major leagues, while about 1.0 PPG is the classic relegation-survival benchmark.
Worked example
A team with 5 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss has 5×3 + 2 = 17 points from 8 games, or 2.125 PPG. Over a 38-game season that projects to 2.125 × 38 ≈ 80.75, so about 81 points.

Frequently asked questions
Why use points per game instead of total points?
Early in a season teams have played different numbers of matches, and midweek fixtures leave the table uneven. PPG normalizes for games played so you can compare form fairly and project a final total.
How many points are usually needed to win the league or avoid relegation?
In a 38-game league, roughly 85–90 points typically wins the title (about 2.3 PPG) and around 35–40 points (near 1.0 PPG) is usually enough to stay up, though the exact cutoffs vary by season.
Does this handle old two-points-for-a-win rules?
No — it uses the current 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw. Historical seasons before the switch to three points would need a different multiplier.
