Trail Mix Macro Calculator
Build a trail mix and see its total calories and protein, carbs and fat per serving.
How it works
batch macros = Σ (ounces × per-ounce macro) · per serving = batch × (serving ÷ total ounces)
Trail mix is prized because it is calorie-dense and shelf-stable, but the exact numbers depend entirely on the ratio of nuts, fruit and chocolate. This calculator applies typical per-ounce values to each ingredient and totals them, then splits the batch into servings of the size you choose. Nuts and seeds drive the fat and protein while dried fruit and chocolate dominate the fast carbs, so shifting the ratio lets you tune the mix for endurance versus quick energy.
Worked example
A batch of 4 oz nuts, 3 oz dried fruit, 2 oz chocolate and 1 oz seeds totals about 1,415 kcal across 10 oz. A 1.5-oz serving is 10 ÷ 1.5 ≈ 6.7 servings, roughly 212 kcal each.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate are the macros?
They use representative per-ounce values for each category. Specific brands vary — salted vs raw nuts, sweetened vs plain fruit — so treat the output as a close estimate, not a label reading.
What is a good trail-mix ratio?
A common base is about 2 parts nuts to 1 part fruit to 1 part chocolate or seeds. More nuts and seeds raise protein and fat; more fruit and chocolate raise quick-burning carbs.
How big should a serving be?
On the trail, 1–2 oz is typical for a snack. Denser, high-fat mixes go further, so smaller servings still deliver plenty of calories.
