How it works

Total = tables × price + special pieces × special price · Cost per guest = total ÷ guests

Centerpieces are priced per arrangement, so the budget is the number of guest tables times the per-piece cost, plus any larger or premium arrangements for the head table, entrance or sweetheart table. Expressing the total as a cost per guest makes it easy to compare against the rest of your event budget and to see whether tall floral pieces are worth the jump over simple candles or greenery. Reusing ceremony flowers at the reception is a common way to cut the count.

Worked example

With 15 guest tables at $75 each, table centerpieces cost $1,125. Add 2 special arrangements at $150 for $300 more, giving $1,425 total across 17 pieces. Over 120 guests that is $1,425 ÷ 120 ≈ $11.88 per guest.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I budget for centerpieces?

Simple candle or greenery centerpieces run $30–$75 per table, while tall floral arrangements are $150–$400 or more. Multiply your chosen per-table cost by the number of guest tables, then add any premium pieces for the head or entrance tables.

How can I lower centerpiece costs?

Use fewer, larger statement pieces on some tables and simple designs on others, mix candles and greenery with a few flowers, and repurpose ceremony arrangements at the reception. Renting vases instead of buying also helps.

How do I get a per-guest figure?

Divide the total centerpiece budget by your guest count. This makes decor easy to compare against food, drink and rental costs when you are balancing the overall event budget.
