How it works
result = start date ± N calendar days · business days: step one day at a time from the start and count only days that are not weekend days or chosen holidays · “start date as day 1”: result = start ± (N − 1)
In the default calendar-day mode every day counts, weekends, holidays and leap days included, so the result is a plain shift on the calendar. That is right for deadlines phrased in days (“within 30 days”), returns windows, notice periods and medication schedules. The start date is today on your device unless you pick another one, and it is not counted itself: one day after today is tomorrow. Switch on “Count the start date as day 1” for terms that include today, which moves the result one day closer. Business-day mode skips weekends, and under More options you can choose the weekend (Saturday–Sunday, Sunday only or Friday–Saturday) and skip US federal holidays on their observed dates. The results show the weekday, how many weeks and months the count spans and how many weekdays and weekend days it crosses. A table lists the dates 7, 14, 30, 60, 90, 180, 365 and more days away, and the repeat option builds a schedule such as every 90 days.
Worked example
30 days after Sunday, October 18, 2026: 13 days take you to the end of October, and 17 more into November land on Tuesday, November 17, 2026. That is 4 weeks and 2 days, or 30 days in total, of which 22 are weekdays and 8 are weekend days. Counting 30 business days instead (Saturday–Sunday weekend) lands on Friday, November 27, 2026. With US federal holidays switched on, Veterans Day (November 11) and Thanksgiving (November 26) are skipped too, so it lands on Tuesday, December 1, 2026.

Frequently asked questions
Is 30 days the same as one month?
Rarely. Adding 30 days to January 31 gives March 2 (or March 1 in a leap year), while “one month later” usually means the end of February. Contracts phrased in days should be counted in days, exactly as this calculator does.
Is today counted?
No. Day 1 is tomorrow, so 1 day from today is tomorrow. If your terms say “including today”, switch on “Count the start date as day 1” under More options and the result moves one day earlier.
How are business days counted?
The start date is never counted. From the next day on, each day that is not a weekend day (or a chosen US federal holiday) counts as one business day, so 1 business day after Friday is Monday and 5 business days after a Monday is the next Monday.
What happens when the count crosses February 29?
Leap days are ordinary days in the count: 100 days after January 25, 2028 passes through February 29 and still advances exactly 100 days, to May 4, 2028.
Can I get a recurring schedule?
Yes. Set “Repeat the count” under More options, for example to 4 with 90 days, and the calculator lists every 90th day from the start date with how many calendar days each one is from the start.
