Days Until Christmas Calculator
A live countdown to the next Christmas — days, weeks and the exact weekday December 25 falls on this year.
How it works
days = December 25 (this year, or next year if the 25th has passed) − today, counted in whole calendar days
The countdown reads the current date from your device and counts the whole calendar days to the next December 25. Once this year’s Christmas has passed, it automatically rolls to next year’s. Because it uses your live clock, the number ticks down by one at each midnight, and the weekday shown is the day Christmas actually falls on that year.
Worked example
Checked in mid-September, the next Christmas is a little over three months away — for instance 105 days out reads as exactly 15 weeks, and the calculator names the weekday (say, a Friday) that December 25 lands on.
Frequently asked questions
Does it count today?
No — it counts the days still to come, so on December 24 it reads 1 and on the 25th itself it says Merry Christmas. Add one if you want an inclusive count.
Why might the number differ from another site?
Time zones. The count uses your device’s local date, so around midnight two people in different zones can briefly see a one-day difference.
How is the weekday worked out?
Straight from the calendar for that year’s December 25. Christmas advances one weekday most years and two across a leap year, so it is rarely the same day twice running.
