Days Until the Weekend Calculator
Count the days, hours and minutes until the weekend from any date and time — to Saturday, Friday or Sunday, or to when work ends — plus workdays left this week, and the next long weekend with US, Mexican or Spanish public holidays.
How it works
days until weekend = (weekend start weekday − today’s weekday + 7) mod 7 · time left = days × 1,440 min − minutes already gone today (− the evening after work, if the weekend starts when work ends) · long weekend = the weekend plus any public holidays touching it
The gap to the next weekend is a weekday difference wrapped around a seven-day week: subtract today’s weekday number (Sunday = 0 … Saturday = 6) from the weekday your weekend starts on and take it modulo seven. Today counts as a workday, so on a Friday the weekend is 1 day away. Add the time now and the countdown becomes exact in days, hours and minutes — and if your weekend really starts when you clock off on Friday, choose “When work ends on the last workday” and set the time. If today is already part of the weekend, the calculator says so and shows when it ends and when you are back at work. Pick a public-holiday list (US federal, Mexico or Spain) and holidays next to a weekend turn it into a long weekend; the table of upcoming weekends shows each one, the holiday that extends it, and single workdays you could take off to bridge a holiday to the weekend. You can also start the weekend on Friday or Sunday, or make it 1 or 3 days long.
Worked example
On Wednesday, September 16, 2026, with a Saturday–Sunday weekend: (6 − 3 + 7) mod 7 = 3, so the weekend is 3 days away, on Saturday, September 19 — Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are the 3 workdays left. At 2:30 pm it is 2 days, 9 hours and 30 minutes to midnight on Saturday, or 2 days, 2 hours and 30 minutes until work ends at 5 pm on Friday. With US federal holidays, the next long weekend after that is Columbus Day, Saturday, October 10 to Monday, October 12 (3 days).

Frequently asked questions
What if today is Saturday or Sunday?
The calculator recognises you are already in the weekend and shows that, with the last day off, the day you are back at work, the time left and when the next weekend begins, rather than reporting zero days.
Can I count down to Friday after work?
Yes. Under More options choose “When work ends on the last workday”, set the time work ends (for example 17:00) and enter the time now. The countdown then stops at Friday evening instead of Saturday midnight.
Does it count today?
Today counts as a workday, so the day count is the whole days from today to the weekend’s start: a Friday-to-Saturday gap is 1 day. The workdays-left figure includes today for the same reason.
How does it find long weekends?
Choose US federal holidays, Mexico’s official rest days or Spain’s national holidays. Any holiday that touches a weekend — a Monday or a Friday, or a run of holidays — extends it, and the next long weekend is shown with its dates and length. Regional holidays are not included.
What is a bridge day?
A single workday between a holiday and the weekend, such as the Friday after US Thanksgiving. The table flags it and shows how many days in a row you get if you take it off.
