Eid al-Adha Date Calculator (Day of Arafah, Hajj and Eid Dates)
Find the date of Eid al-Adha in any year from 1900 to 2100, with the Day of Arafah, the start of Dhu al-Hijjah, the Hajj days, the days of Tashreeq and the Islamic New Year that follows.
How it works
Eid al-Adha = 10 Dhu al-Hijjah (12th Islamic month) in the tabular Islamic calendar · day number = 10 + ⌈29.5 × 11⌉ + 354 × (H − 1) + ⌊(3 + 11H) ÷ 30⌋ + 1,948,439 · Day of Arafah = Eid − 1; Hajj = 8–13 Dhu al-Hijjah; Tashreeq = Eid + 1 to Eid + 3
Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the month of the Hajj pilgrimage, the day after pilgrims stand at Mount Arafat. Like every Islamic date it moves about 11 days earlier each Gregorian year. The calculator uses the tabular Islamic calendar; Saudi Arabia sets the Hajj dates by the Umm al-Qura calendar and moon sighting, and many countries follow it, but some celebrate a day later — the adjustment shows that case.
Worked example
For 2027 with no adjustment, Dhu al-Hijjah 1448 AH begins on Saturday, May 8, 2027. Pilgrims start the Hajj on the Day of Tarwiyah, Saturday, May 15; the Day of Arafah is Sunday, May 16; and Eid al-Adha falls on Monday, May 17, 2027, followed by the days of Tashreeq from May 18 to May 20. The Islamic New Year 1449 begins on Sunday, June 6, 2027, and Ashura is Tuesday, June 15.

Frequently asked questions
When is Eid al-Adha 2027?
The tabular calendar gives Monday, May 17, 2027, with the Day of Arafah on Sunday, May 16. Saudi Arabia's Umm al-Qura calendar places Eid one day earlier, on May 16, so the final date depends on the moon sighting announced at the start of Dhu al-Hijjah.
How long is Eid al-Adha?
The festival day is 10 Dhu al-Hijjah, but celebrations and the sacrifice (qurbani) continue through the three days of Tashreeq, 11 to 13 Dhu al-Hijjah — four days in total in most countries.
What is the Day of Arafah?
The 9th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the day before Eid, when pilgrims stand on the plain of Arafat. Muslims who are not on Hajj are encouraged to fast that day.
Why can the date differ by one day?
The Islamic month starts when the new crescent is seen. Countries that follow Saudi Arabia usually share the same date, while those relying on their own sighting may start Dhu al-Hijjah — and therefore Eid — a day later.
