How it works

Payout = price + shipping − listing − revenue×transaction% − (revenue×processing% + fixed) · Profit = payout − product cost − shipping cost − ad spend

Etsy takes a flat listing fee, a transaction fee on the item price plus any shipping you charge, and a payment-processing fee (a percentage plus a fixed amount that varies by country). Those come off first to give your payout. Real profit only appears once you also subtract what the product and its packaging cost you and any Etsy Ads spend attributable to the sale — the numbers most fee calculators leave out. Every rate here is editable so you can match your country and category.

Worked example

Sell a $25 item with free shipping that costs you $6 in materials and $4 to pack and ship. Etsy takes $0.20 listing, 6.5% = $1.63 transaction, and 3% + $0.25 = $1.00 processing — $2.83 in fees, leaving a $22.17 payout. After the $10 of product and shipping cost you keep $12.17, a 48.7% margin.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my Etsy profit lower than the payout Etsy shows?

Etsy’s payout only subtracts its own fees, not what your product and shipping cost you. This calculator subtracts your material cost, packaging/shipping cost and any ad spend on top of Etsy’s fees to show true profit, not just the deposit amount.

Does Etsy charge fees on the shipping I collect?

Yes. The transaction fee and payment-processing fee both apply to the item price plus the shipping you charge the buyer. Enter your shipping charged so the fees are calculated on the full amount the buyer pays.

Should I include Etsy Ads in the profit?

If you run Etsy Ads, spread your average ad spend across the orders it drives and enter that per-order figure here. Ads are a real cost of the sale even though Etsy bills them separately from the per-order fees.
