Glove Size Calculator
Turn the circumference around your palm into a numeric glove size and an XS–XXL letter size.
How it works
Glove size number ≈ palm circumference in inches (rounded to the nearest half) · letter band from the same circumference
Glove sizing is based on the circumference of your dominant hand measured around the palm, just below the knuckles and excluding the thumb. The numeric glove size is essentially that circumference in inches, and manufacturers group those numbers into XS through XXL bands. Because the fit is driven by the widest part of the hand, the palm measurement matters far more than finger length.
Worked example
A palm measuring 21.6 cm is 21.6 ÷ 2.54 = 8.5 in around, giving a glove size of 8.5 — squarely in the Medium band.
Frequently asked questions
Which hand should I measure?
Your dominant hand, since it is usually slightly larger. If the two hands differ, size to the larger one so both gloves fit comfortably.
Do I include the thumb in the measurement?
No. Wrap the tape around the palm just below the knuckles with the thumb out of the loop. Then make a light fist to make sure the tape is not cutting in.
Should winter gloves be sized differently?
For insulated or layered gloves, size up half a step so there is room for the lining and a little trapped air, which is what actually keeps hands warm.
