International Shoe Size Converter
Convert a foot length into US men, US women, UK and EU shoe sizes using the Brannock and Paris-point formulas — no guesswork chart.
How it works
US men = 3 × foot(in) − 22 · US women = US men + 1.5 · UK = US men − 1 · EU = (foot cm + 1.5) × 1.5
Shoe sizing is really a length scale in disguise. The US and UK systems count in thirds of an inch above a fixed starting length (the Brannock scale), so each full size is one-third of an inch of foot length. The European system uses the Paris point — two-thirds of a centimetre — measured on the shoe last, which runs about 1.5 cm longer than the bare foot to leave toe room. Because the systems have different origins and step sizes, only a length-based conversion is reliable.
Worked example
A 26 cm foot is 26 ÷ 2.54 = 10.24 in. US men = 3 × 10.24 − 22 = 8.7 → 8.5; US women ≈ 10; UK ≈ 7.5; EU = (26 + 1.5) × 1.5 = 41.3 → 41.5.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the same foot get different numbers in each country?
Each system has its own starting length and step. The US and UK use one-third of an inch per size; Europe uses two-thirds of a centimetre (the Paris point) measured on the shoe rather than the foot. The numbers differ even though the foot does not.
Should I measure both feet?
Yes. Most people have one foot slightly larger than the other, so measure both while standing and use the longer measurement. Measure late in the day when feet are at their largest.
How much toe room should I leave?
About a centimetre (roughly a thumbnail) between your longest toe and the end of the shoe. This converter already builds a 1.5 cm last allowance into the EU size, which reflects how shoes are actually cut.
