How it works

half birthday = birthday + 6 calendar months (next occurrence) · N-day milestone = birth date + N days

A half birthday is the point exactly six months from your birthday — popular for summer-born children whose real birthday falls in school holidays, and just a fun midpoint for everyone else. Day-count milestones instead add a round number of days to your birth date: your 10,000th day lands a little after your 27th birthday, and 25,000 days is just past 68 years. Because these count actual days, they drift across weekdays and rarely coincide with a birthday, which is what makes them worth marking.

Worked example

Born 20 May 1990, the half birthday falls on 20 November each year — as of Sep 2026, the next one is Fri, 20 Nov 2026. The 10,000-day milestone was Thu, 05 Oct 2017, when you had lived 27 years, 4 months and 15 days.

Frequently asked questions

How is a half birthday worked out?

It adds six calendar months to your birthday. For a 31st or 30th that has no match six months later, it clamps to the last day of that month, then shows the next time that date comes around.

Why celebrate a 10,000-day milestone?

Round day counts are a novel alternative to birthdays and fall on unexpected dates. 10,000 days is about 27.4 years and 25,000 days about 68.4 years, each a memorable "odometer" moment.

Can a milestone be in the past?

Yes — smaller day counts like 1,000 or 10,000 days may already have passed, and the calculator shows how long ago. Larger ones are usually in the future.
