Hourly to Salary Calculator
Convert an hourly wage to annual, monthly and weekly pay — and turn a salary back into an hourly rate.
How it works
Annual = rate × hours per week × weeks · Monthly = annual ÷ 12 · Reverse: hourly = salary ÷ (hours × weeks)
Annual pay is the hourly rate times the hours worked in a year (hours per week × weeks). Full-time is usually taken as 2,080 hours — 40 hours across 52 weeks — but dropping to 50 weeks accounts for unpaid time off. The reverse figure divides a salary by those same yearly hours to recover the equivalent hourly rate.
Worked example
At $30 an hour for 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year: $62,400 a year, $5,200 a month and $1,200 a week. Read in reverse, a $62,400 salary is $30 an hour across 2,080 hours.
Frequently asked questions
How many work hours are in a year?
Full-time is usually taken as 2,080 hours — 40 hours × 52 weeks. Subtracting two weeks of unpaid time off would use 50 weeks, or 2,000 hours.
How do I convert a salary to an hourly rate?
Divide the annual salary by your total yearly hours. A $62,400 salary over 2,080 hours is $30 an hour. This calculator shows that reverse figure automatically.
Does this account for overtime or benefits?
No — it is a straight-time conversion. Overtime, bonuses and the dollar value of benefits like health insurance and retirement matching are not included and can add meaningfully to total compensation.
