Insurance Bundle Savings Calculator
Estimate the multi-policy discount from bundling auto and home insurance with one carrier — annual and monthly savings.
How it works
Total = auto + home · Saving = total × discount% · Bundled = total − saving
Insurers offer a multi-policy discount because keeping both policies under one roof lowers their acquisition and churn costs, and they pass some of that back. The saving is a percentage of the combined premium, so higher-premium households save more in absolute dollars from the same discount rate. The catch is that a bundle is only a bargain if each policy is individually competitive — a cheap discount on two overpriced policies still loses to shopping each one separately.
Worked example
A $1,400 auto premium and $1,200 home premium total $2,600. A 15% bundle discount saves 2,600 × 0.15 = $390 a year, dropping the combined premium to $2,210 — about $32.50 a month.
Frequently asked questions
Is bundling always cheaper?
Not necessarily. A bundle discount can still leave you paying more than two separately-shopped policies from different carriers. Always compare the bundled quote against the best standalone quotes for each policy.
What discount is typical?
Auto-plus-home bundles commonly run 10–25% off the combined premium, though it varies by carrier and state. Use your own quoted discount here rather than an assumed number.
Do other policies stack?
Adding umbrella, life or additional vehicles can raise the discount further with many carriers. Re-run this with the combined premium and your actual quoted rate to see the total saving.
