How it works
Net = amount − platform fee (0% donations, 5% memberships/shop/commissions, 0% on Gold) − processor fee (≈2.9% + 30¢)
Ko-fi takes nothing from one-off donations and 5% from memberships, shop sales and commissions; the optional Gold plan ($8 a month) removes the 5% and unlocks extra features. Payments go straight to your PayPal or Stripe, so their processing fees (about 2.9% + 30¢, more for international cards) apply on top and Ko-fi never holds your money.
Worked example
A $15 shop sale: $0.75 to Ko-fi + $0.74 processing = $13.51 kept. At 40 sales a month, Gold saves $30 − $8 = $22.
Frequently asked questions
When does Gold pay off?
Once 5% of your monthly non-donation revenue exceeds $8 — i.e. above about $160 a month in memberships or sales.
Is there a payout delay?
No — funds land in PayPal or Stripe immediately; those services set their own withdrawal timing.
