How it works

Fee = price × fee% · You keep = price − fee · Profit = you keep − cost

Gumroad charges a flat percentage of each sale (plus any card processing baked into that rate, depending on your setup). This calculator shows the fee, what lands in your account, and — once you enter a product cost — the true profit. For digital products the cost is usually zero, so what you keep and your profit are the same; for anything with a per-unit cost, the profit line matters. The fee percentage is editable in case Gumroad changes it or you are modelling a discount or add-on.

Worked example

On a $25 digital product at Gumroad’s 10% fee, the fee is $2.50, so you keep $22.50. With no product cost, that $22.50 is also your profit. If the item carried $5 of cost, profit would fall to $17.50.

Frequently asked questions

Does Gumroad add a card processing fee on top?

Gumroad’s headline flat fee is designed to cover payment processing on standard sales, so the percentage you enter is typically all-in. If you see separate processing charges on your statements, raise the fee percentage to match your real effective rate.

Should I enter a product cost?

For a purely digital download, leave cost at zero — what you keep is your profit. If the product has a real per-unit cost (printing, shipping, licensing), enter it so the profit line reflects reality.

Do fees change with sales volume or plan?

Gumroad has revised its fee structure over time and may vary it by plan or promotion. Because the rate is editable, you can set it to whatever your account currently shows.
