Meal Frequency Plan Calculator
Split your daily calories across the meals and snacks you actually eat, so each sitting has a realistic calorie budget.
How it works
Snack pool = daily × snack% · Per snack = snack pool ÷ snacks · Per meal = (daily − snack pool) ÷ meals
How often you eat matters far less for weight than your daily total, but a plan is easier to follow when each sitting has a clear budget. This tool carves off a slice of the day for snacks, then divides the rest evenly among your main meals. Adjust the snack share up if you graze often, or to zero for a strict three-meals-only structure.
Worked example
On 2,000 kcal with 3 meals, 2 snacks and a 30% snack share, snacks get 600 kcal (300 each) and meals share the remaining 1,400 kcal — about 467 kcal per meal.
Frequently asked questions
Does eating more often boost metabolism?
No. The thermic effect of food scales with how much you eat, not how many times, so six small meals and three larger ones burn the same calories. Choose the frequency you can stick to.
Is skipping breakfast bad?
Not inherently. Many people do well eating in a shorter window. What matters is total intake and nutrient quality; set meals to zero-out any you routinely skip and the tool re-splits the rest.
Should every meal be equal?
This tool splits evenly for simplicity, but front-loading calories earlier in the day suits some people better. Use the per-meal figure as an average you can shift around.
