Merch by Amazon Royalty Calculator
Amazon Merch on Demand royalty per shirt at any list price — Amazon’s cost and fees deducted, marketplace tax adjustments, and monthly earnings at your sales volume.
How it works
royalty ≈ list price − Amazon cost − 15% referral share of the price (approximation of the published schedule; check the current royalty table)
Merch on Demand pays a royalty rather than a margin you set: Amazon prints, ships and handles returns, and deducts its product cost plus a share of the price. On a $19.99 standard tee the royalty is under $4 — roughly 18–20% of the price — and it rises steeply with price because the cost is fixed: $24.99 pays about twice what $17.99 does. Non-US marketplaces deduct VAT before the royalty, and Amazon revises the schedule periodically.
Worked example
A standard tee at $19.99: 19.99 × 0.85 − 9.84 ≈ $3.29 royalty (16%); at $24.99 it is $6.06. Twenty-five sales a month at $19.99 earns about $82.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the royalty so low at $15.99?
Because Amazon’s cost is nearly $10 before its fee share; below about $12 the royalty is zero.
Do tiers change royalties?
No — tiers only limit how many designs you can have live. Royalties depend on product, price and marketplace.
