Percentage to CGPA Calculator
Convert a percentage to CGPA on a 10-point scale (÷9.5, ÷10, VTU, Anna, Mumbai) or a 4-point GPA, with the matching letter grade.
How it works
CGPA = Percentage ÷ 9.5 (CBSE) · 4-point GPA ≈ Percentage ÷ 25
Reversing the CBSE conversion divides by 9.5, so 95% maps to a perfect 10. Percentage-to-GPA on a US 4-point scale has no single official formula; dividing by 25 is the common rough rule, but US admissions usually use a grade table (A = 90–100 → 4.0) rather than a linear map.
Worked example
76% ÷ 9.5 = CGPA 8.0 (grade A, first division).
Frequently asked questions
Why does 100% give CGPA 10 but 95% also rounds to 10?
The ÷9.5 formula caps at 10 — anything from 95% upward is treated as the top grade.
Is a 4-point GPA of 3.0 the same as 75%?
Roughly by the ÷25 rule, but a US 3.0 (B average) is closer to 80–85% under grade tables; treat conversions as indicative.
