Quota Attainment Calculator
Measure attainment against quota, the gap remaining, and — using the period elapsed — where you are on pace to finish.
How it works
Attainment % = bookings ÷ quota × 100 · On-pace target = quota × period elapsed% · Projected finish = bookings ÷ period elapsed%
Attainment is simply bookings divided by quota, but a raw percentage hides whether you are actually on track. Weighting by how far through the period you are answers the real question: at 60% attainment three-quarters of the way through a quarter, you are behind pace and projected to fall short. Dividing bookings by the fraction of the period elapsed projects the finishing figure if the current run-rate holds — an early warning that beats waiting for the period to close.
Worked example
$240,000 booked against a $300,000 quota is 80% attainment. Three-quarters (75%) through the period you should be at $225,000, so you are slightly ahead of pace and projected to finish at $240,000 ÷ 0.75 = $320,000, or about 107% of quota.
Frequently asked questions
How is quota attainment calculated?
Divide bookings (or revenue) achieved by the quota for the period and multiply by 100. $240,000 against a $300,000 quota is 80% attainment.
Why factor in how much of the period has passed?
A number like 70% means very different things on day 5 versus day 25 of a month. Comparing attainment to the fraction of the period elapsed tells you whether you are ahead of or behind pace, and projects the likely finish.
What is considered good attainment?
Consistently hitting 100% is the target, and healthy teams often see the majority of reps at or above quota. The projection here helps you intervene early — add pipeline or coaching — rather than discovering a miss at the buzzer.
