Staking Rewards Calculator
Estimate crypto staking income from an APR, holding period and compounding frequency — and see the effective APY once rewards are restaked.
How it works
Compounding: balance = P × (1 + APR ÷ n)^(n × years) · Simple: balance = P × (1 + APR × years) · APY = (1 + APR ÷ n)^n − 1
Staking pays a reward rate (APR) for locking tokens to help secure a proof-of-stake network. When those rewards are automatically restaked they earn rewards of their own, so the effective yield — the APY — climbs above the stated APR, and more so the more often it compounds. The gap between an 8% APR and its daily-compounded APY is small over a year but grows with the rate and the time held.
Worked example
Stake $1,000 at 8% APR for 365 days compounding daily: balance = 1,000 × (1 + 0.08 ÷ 365)^365 ≈ $1,083.28, so rewards are about $83.28 and the effective APY is 8.33% — a touch above the 8% headline rate thanks to daily restaking.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between APR and APY here?
APR is the flat annual reward rate before compounding; APY is what you actually earn once rewards are restaked and start earning too. APY is always equal to or higher than APR, and rises with compounding frequency.
Are staking rewards guaranteed?
No. Advertised rates change with network participation, and rewards can be reduced by validator downtime or "slashing" penalties. Some networks also lock your tokens for an unbonding period during which you cannot sell.
Does this account for token price changes?
No — it measures rewards in the units you stake. If the token price falls, the fiat value of both your principal and your rewards can drop even while the token count grows.
