Time Until Deadline Calculator
Count the hours and minutes remaining until a deadline date and time — or how long ago it passed.
How it works
remaining = deadline (date + time) − current moment · shown as days + hours + minutes, and as total hours and minutes
The calculator combines your deadline date with a 24-hour time, then subtracts the current moment to get the gap in milliseconds, which it breaks into days, hours and minutes. Because it reads the clock, the countdown changes every time you run it. If the deadline is already behind you, it reports how long ago it passed instead of a negative number.
Worked example
A deadline of January 1, 2027 at 17:00, viewed on September 15, 2026 at 09:00, leaves roughly 108 days, 8 hours — about 2,600 hours or 156,000 minutes remaining.
Frequently asked questions
What time zone does it use?
Your device’s local time for both the current moment and the deadline. If your deadline is stated in another zone, convert it to your local time before entering it.
Why does the answer change each time I open it?
It counts down to the deadline from the current clock, so the remaining minutes shrink continuously. Reload to refresh the figure.
How do I enter the time?
Use 24-hour HH:MM — 09:30 for half past nine in the morning, 17:00 for five in the afternoon. Leaving it at 17:00 assumes an end-of-day deadline.
