Time Zone Converter
Convert a time between 50 world cities or any UTC offset on a chosen date, with daylight saving time applied, the next clock change, up to three extra cities, shared working hours and an hour-by-hour meeting planner.
How it works
UTC = local time − the zone’s UTC offset on that date · target time = UTC + the target zone’s offset · offset = standard offset + 1 hour while daylight saving time is in force
A time zone is an offset from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), but many zones change that offset twice a year for daylight saving time (DST), and the northern and southern hemispheres change in opposite seasons. That is why the gap between New York and London is usually five hours but four for a few weeks each spring and autumn, and why Sydney is 14, 15 or 16 hours ahead of New York depending on the month. The converter first turns your time into UTC using the source city’s rules for the chosen date, then applies the destination’s offset for that same moment. DST rules come from the IANA time-zone database built into your browser, so changes such as Mexico dropping DST in 2022 are already included. A time that falls in the hour skipped when clocks go forward, or that happens twice when they go back, is flagged. Extra cities, shared working hours and the hour-by-hour planner help you find a meeting slot that is reasonable for everyone.
Worked example
A call at 14:30 in New York on October 18, 2026: New York is on daylight saving time (UTC−4), so the call is 18:30 UTC. India is UTC+5:30 all year, so 18:30 + 5:30 = 00:00 on Monday, October 19 — India is 9.5 hours ahead. After New York’s clocks go back on November 1, 2026, the same 14:30 call becomes 01:00 in India, 10.5 hours ahead. With 09:00–17:00 working days, New York and India share no office hours, so the planner suggests an early-morning New York slot such as 08:00 (17:30 in India) if one side stretches its day.

Frequently asked questions
Does this converter handle daylight saving time?
Yes. Each city uses the official rules for the date you pick, including the different start and end dates in North America, Europe and the southern hemisphere. Turn the daylight saving option off under More options if you want plain standard-time offsets.
Why does the time difference change during the year?
Because the two places do not change their clocks on the same day, or one of them does not change at all. New York and London differ by five hours most of the year but by four for a few weeks in March and late October. Places such as India, Japan, Arizona and most of Mexico do not use daylight saving time.
What happens to a time in the hour when clocks change?
When clocks go forward, times like 02:30 do not exist that night, and the converter tells you so. When they go back, times like 01:30 happen twice; the converter uses the first one and adds a note.
How do I find a good meeting time across several cities?
Add up to three more cities under More options, set your working day, and read the shared working hours and the hour-by-hour planner. A ✓ marks hours that fall within working hours everywhere; if there is none, the planner shows which side has to start early or stay late.
Why is India at +5:30 and Nepal at +5:45?
Some countries chose offsets that are not whole hours to match their local solar time. India uses UTC+5:30, Iran +3:30, Nepal +5:45, Newfoundland −3:30 and parts of Australia +9:30. Use the custom offset option for any zone not in the list.
What does “Next day (+1)” mean?
The converted time falls on the next calendar day in the destination. It matters when scheduling between the Americas and Asia or Australia, where an afternoon call can land after midnight.
