How it works

planet age = your age in Earth years ÷ that planet’s orbital period in Earth years · Earth age = days lived ÷ 365.25

Your age is really just how many times your planet has orbited the Sun since you were born. Each planet takes a different time to complete one orbit — a “year” — so dividing your Earth age by another planet’s orbital period tells you how many of that planet’s years you have lived. Slow, distant planets like Neptune give tiny numbers, while speedy Mercury racks up years fast.

Worked example

Someone 30 Earth years old has an age of 30 ÷ 1.881 ≈ 15.95 Martian years, because Mars takes about 1.88 Earth years to circle the Sun. On Mercury, with an 88-day year, the same person is 30 ÷ 0.241 ≈ 124 Mercurian years old.

Frequently asked questions

Why am I so young on Neptune?

Neptune takes about 165 Earth years to orbit the Sun once, so almost nobody completes even one Neptunian year. Your Neptune age will always be well under 1 unless you pass 165.

Does this use my real birth date and today’s date?

Yes — it counts the days from your birth date to today and converts that to Earth years, then divides by each planet’s orbital period.

Are these the sidereal orbital periods?

Yes, the values are each planet’s orbital period around the Sun in Earth years, which is the standard basis for this kind of playful comparison.
