Attendance Calculator
Check your attendance percentage and how many classes you can still miss — or must attend — to stay above the required minimum.
How it works
attendance % = attended ÷ held × 100 · can miss = ⌊attended ÷ min − held⌋ · must attend = ⌈(min × held − attended) ÷ (1 − min)⌉
Every future class you skip grows the denominator without growing the numerator, and every class you attend grows both by one. Solving those two inequalities against the minimum percentage gives the largest number of consecutive misses you can afford, or the smallest streak of attendance that lifts you back over the line.
Worked example
38 attended of 45 held is 84.4%. With a 75% minimum: 38 ÷ 0.75 − 45 = 5.7, so you can miss 5 more classes — 38 of 50 is exactly 76%, while a sixth miss (38 of 51) drops you to 74.5%.
Frequently asked questions
Do excused absences count against attendance?
That depends on the policy: many schools exclude excused absences from "classes held", which helps you. If yours does, subtract excused sessions from the held count before calculating.
Why does recovering take so many more classes than missing did?
Attending one class only nudges the ratio, because it raises both the numerator and the denominator. Falling from 80% to 70% is fast; climbing back requires a long unbroken streak.
What is a typical minimum requirement?
Attendance floors of 70–80% are common where they exist, with 75% the most frequent. Policies vary widely by school and even by course, so confirm yours.
